When I walk in the city, Moscow, it is very important to check two signs.
モスクワの街を歩くとき、二つの標識をチェックすることが大事です。
Why important? Because if I miss them, I have to walk another 300~500meters to across the street.
It is very true and often happens. Summer time is OK, but in winter time... this situation is so miserable as you can imagine.
「横断」（左側）と「地下通路」（右側）の標識です。
なぜ大事かというと、もしこれらの標識を見逃したら、つぎに通りを渡れるのは300m~500mも先だったりするからです。
これは本当によく遭遇することで、夏であれば大丈夫なのですが、寒い冬の時期は・・・もう悲惨です。
Today I am going to write about "Underpass", which is the wisdom of this country.
Russian underpass is not only a passage. Once you come in, you will find a great fun to stay longer.
There are lots of lots of small shops!! They are lined up in dark narrow underground passage.
今日はとくに「地下通路」について書きたいと思います。実はこの国の知恵がつまっています。
ロシアの地下通路は単に通路ではありません。もし一度足を踏み入れたら、面白くてついつい長居してしまうでしょう。
そこにはたーくさんの小さなショップが並んでいるのです！
One shop is only about 1.5square meters and normally enclosed by transparent partition with an extremely tiny window.
Customers should talk and make deals with a shop owner at this tiny window. Probably foreiners find difficult to buy anything by several reasons, firstly shop owners look grumpy (I say, face in Soviet style), secondly we must talk in Russian without gestures(no space to make it), thirdly products quality is unsure. But if you are a kind of market lovers, why not? Go for it.
一つのショップは、たったの１．５平方メートルくらいの面積しかありません。通常、透明の仕切りで囲われています。その仕切りには極端に小さな窓があり、お客さんはその窓を通して、店主とやりとりしないといけません。これは外国人にはハードルの高いことです。まず第一に、概して店主がムスッとしていて怖い（ソビエト・・な顔です）。次に、この小さな窓ではジェスチャーに頼りながら、ロシア語を話すことができない。それに品質もよくわかりません。でももしマーケット好きな人なら、ぜひ買い物にチャレンジすることをおすすめします。
Just window shopping is enjoyable enough. Each shop sells different stuff and stocks incredible numbers of products in tiny shop space. Seriously we can buy everything that we need at office or home. Shop owners use a whole space to diplay products as much as they can, which makes unique underpass-scape. Shops themselves look like plastic packages.
単にウィンドウショッピングするだけでも十分楽しめます。それぞれの店が違うものを扱っていて、その在庫の多さは驚くばかりです。冗談ではなく、ここでオフィスや自宅で必要なもののすべてが揃うといっても過言じゃありません。店主はこの小さなスペースにめいいっぱい陳列します。この陳列こそが、地下通路の景色を面白くユニークにしています。それは店ごと、真空パックにでもされているような感じなのです。
I found that the most popular one is the clothes shop for middle aged women, selling pajamas, slippers, T-shirts with one price like 200rubles, 350rubles. I always see this kind shops packed with lots of women. Personally I am thinking to by a set of slippers there, because it is much cheaper than supermarket one. Yes, I'll join those ladies!
たくさん並んだお店の中でも、もっとも人気が高いのは、婦人向けの洋服屋さんでしょう。パジャマとかスリッパとかTシャツを売るような店で、値段はだいたい２００ルーブルや３５０ルーブル均一になっています。この手のお店はいつもおばちゃんでギュウギュウ。個人的にはスリッパがスーパーで買うより安くていいなぁ・・なんて思っています。近々、このロシアのおばちゃん達に参戦してみたいと思います。
