Hi, there. Russia had a long holiday last 2weeks and Japan had Golden Weeks as well.
I hope that every one spent a wonderful time.
I am just back from vacation in Denmark. I feel very FRESH now!!
Why Denmark?? Because it's close and generally the city is children friendly.
Of course, for me it is one of the best place to see Scandinavian design.

私たちはデンマーク旅行から帰ってきたところです！すごくリフレッシュしました。
どうしてデンマーク？モスクワから近く、バリアフリーが整った北欧は子連れに優しいからです。
そしてもちろんDesign Walkerの私にとって、デンマークは建築、プロダクトデザインの見所がたくさんだから。
For the first couple of days, we stayed in Copenhagen.
I could see the great design anywhere, for example, historical architecture built between1700-1900 is lit by the lights designed by Paul Henningsen.
I was fashionated with the contrast between old buildings and modern lights, which is something similar to Japanese sense of beauty. A kind of minimalism. We don't decorate too much.
コペンハーゲンでは街のいたるところに巨匠のデザインが・・
1700年～1800年代の歴史ある建築物の内部が、ポールヘニングセン等のライトでシンプルに照らされています。
建築物の重厚感と、モダンデザインの軽やかさのギャップに惹きつけられます。
飾りすぎないという、引き算の美学。そのあたりのセンスがどこか日本と共通するように思います。
On the other hand, it is pity that most of Danish design things are too expensive to use in our daily life.
For example, "Stelton" ｊag, "Georg Jensen" cutlery and "Rosendahl" wooden toys are at least more than $100.
I know they are definitely masterpieces of Danish brands. However I feel strange, because they are basically designed for daily use. Now they became a kind of luxurious things just for looking.
I wish we had wider ranges of Danish products, high and low, new and old. It should be wonderful.
At this point, "TIGER" (the Danish low-price retail chain, selling kitchenware, toys, hobby items etc. Hot shops in Japan) is remarkable new wave from Denmark.
一方で少し残念に感じたのは、デンマークデザインを私たちの生活に取り入れるにはあまりにも高すぎるということ。
Steltonのジャグ、Georg Jensenのカトラリー、Rosendahlの木製人形。これらはもちろん著名ブランドの逸品。
本来は身近な日用品のはずなのに、数万円。ちょっと本末転倒な気がします。
もっと気軽にデンマークデザインに触れられる裾野の広さがあれば、もっと楽しいはず。
そういう意味では日本でも話題のTIGERは、面白い試みに思えます。
