Before living in Moscow, I was expecting that Russia is like a fairy tale country, because onion shaped churches are always seen in pictures and their design and colors are exactly like a fairy tale. Moreover, old toys such as Matryoshka and Chebrashka have nostargic mood like something in my childhood. Actually, it was just my dream. Now Moscow is filled with Money, Cars and busy people. Super realistic city!
モスクワに来る前に、私がひそかに期待していたのは「ロシアがおとぎの国」みたいじゃないかということです。写真で見るロシアにはいつもあの教会のたまねぎ頭があり、その色使いはおとぎの国そのもの。そしてマトリョーシカやチェブラーシカ。素朴なおもちゃは、どこか懐かしくノスタルジック。実際、来てみるとそこはおとぎの世界ではなく、人・車・お金がひしめく超リアルな世界だったのですが・・However, if you walk and keep your eyes on details in the city, you can still find "Fairy tale world"
I think this is soul and identity of Russian. One painter promoted it about 100years ago, Victor Vanetsov(1848-1926). This week I visited his house / atelier in Moscow where he spent late time of his life.
でも街をよ～く散策すると、あるんです。おとぎの世界が。
やっぱりロシア人の魂・アイデンティティとして、この世界観は欠かせないものと思います。
それを100年前に世に示した画家がいます、Victor Vasnetsov 氏（1848年ー1926年）。彼が晩年すごした自宅 兼 アトリエを訪れました。

Look at outside of the house, it is already Fairy tale world. (Unfortunatelly, photography is forbidden strictly inside the house)In fact, this house was designed by V.Vasnetsov himself. He started to sketch around1892 and only 2years later, his family and he were already in the house. Wow, amazingly quick! Vasnetsov was specialized in painting mythological or religious subjects, meanwhile he promoted revival of Russian forklore art. In those time, Russia was influenced by European art so much, for example gorgeous baloque style or Greece Roman Clasicism architecture like Bolshoi theatre. In the beginning of 1870, Vasnetsov elaborated his style based on Russian revival architecture. He was looking back old old Russia and peaceful forklore arts.
実はこのお家はVasnetsovさんが自分でデザインしたものなのです。1892年ごろにスケッチをはじめ、1894年にはもう完成して住んでいたというから驚きです。Vasnetsovは神話・宗教画家なのですが、一方でロシアの伝統的芸術復興をかかげた活動をしていました。その背景として18世紀前半、ロシアの芸術はヨーロッパの影響を多大に受けていました。建築を例にあげると、絢爛豪華なバロック様式やギリシア・ローマの古典主義復興の流れを受けたもの,ボリショイ劇場などです。Vasnetsovはそんな中、もっともっと昔のロシア、おおらかな民族的芸術を振興したのです。

The features of this style are appeared in the shape of wooden roof , decorative windows with wood carving. Actually interior is more impressive!! He also designed all furniture, which is great harmony of practical design and fork arts. Everything was created almost a centuty ago, but it is still atrractive enough to fancy us. Exactly like "Fairy tale world". It is pity that I couldn't take any pictures inside, I put the one from official site instead.
この木造の屋根の形や、木彫りで装飾された窓などがそれを象徴しています。
内部はもっともっとすてきなんですよ！！彼がデザインした家具は、どれも実用的ながらフォークアートの要素が盛り込まれています。100年ほどたった今みても新鮮なデザイン、そしてこれぞ「おとぎの国」でした。内部の写真は取れなかったので、公式サイトの写真を載せます。。

I really sympathize with his heart. I think now Moscow needs his spirit, the revival of old Russia. With the rapid economical development, people have been taking any information and culture from other countries. Nowadays, it is very difficult to find original old Russian culture in the city. At least, many of Japanese including me are still dreaming " Fairy tale country, Russia", which should be a great resource to be a big tourist country in the world.
私は彼の考えに心底共感します。彼が100年前に考えたことは、今のモスクワに必要なことではないでしょうか？
経済発展とともに、世界から情報・文化がどっと流れ込み、このような「古き良きロシア」が街に見当たりません。でも私以外にも多くの日本人はいまだに「おとぎの国、ロシア」を夢見ています。観光大国をめざすための、大きな資源だと思います。
